Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Sellentum (“Sellentum”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information when you use our guided-selling platform, websites and related services (the “Service”).
We act as a data processor for the shopper information handled on behalf of the merchants who use Sellentum, and as a data controller for the account information of the merchants themselves. This policy applies to both roles, and to visitors of our marketing website.
Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — your name, email address, password credentials and workspace settings when you register and manage a Sellentum account.
- Merchant content — the product catalog, configuration, questions, rules, brand settings and other content you add to your workspace.
- Shopper interaction data — anonymous events generated when a shopper uses an embedded experience, such as views, answers, recommendations shown and clicks, so merchants can measure performance.
- Technical information — device, browser and connection details, and functional identifiers needed to operate and secure the Service.
- Communications — information you provide when you contact us for support, sales or feedback.
Embedded shopper experiences are designed to avoid collecting directly identifying shopper information. We do not intentionally collect special categories of personal data.
How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, operate and maintain the Service and your workspace.
- Generate the analytics and reporting that help merchants understand guided-selling performance.
- Produce written explanations and improve discovery features through automated processing (see “Automated processing and AI” below).
- Secure the Service, prevent abuse and enforce our terms.
- Respond to your requests and provide support.
- Comply with legal obligations.
Automated processing and AI
Some features use automated processing, including third-party AI processing providers, to generate written explanations and to improve product search. Product recommendations themselves are determined by the merchant’s own configured rules and catalog data, not by AI.
Information shared with AI processing providers is limited to catalog content and a shopper’s query for the purpose of returning that request. We do not permit this content to be used to train third-party models, and we do not use it to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about an individual.
Legal bases for processing
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract — to provide the Service you or your merchant have requested.
- Legitimate interests — to operate, secure and improve the Service, balanced against your rights.
- Consent — where required, for example certain communications; you may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation — to comply with applicable law.
International data transfers
The Service may be operated using infrastructure located in different countries. Where personal information is transferred across borders, we use appropriate safeguards, such as recognised standard contractual clauses, to protect it in accordance with applicable law.
Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. Merchant content is retained while the workspace is active and removed within a reasonable period after deletion, subject to backups and legal requirements.
Security
We use administrative, technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information, including tenant isolation, access controls and server-side handling of credentials. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your information.
- Request a portable copy of your information.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Merchants can self-serve most changes from the dashboard. To exercise a right, contact us at hello@sellentum.com with the workspace or store the request relates to. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
Children’s privacy
The Service is intended for businesses and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate action.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
